Reducing the Cost of Living#
Families in our district are feeling the squeeze. Groceries cost more, rent keeps climbing, childcare is out of reach, and energy bills eat into paychecks. Inflation has hit working families the hardest.
I will fight to reduce the impact of rising costs by lowering the expenses that matter most:
- Affordable housing — Invest in housing construction, strengthen renter protections, and expand homeownership programs
- Childcare relief — Bring down the cost of childcare so parents don’t have to choose between working and caring for their kids
- Lower energy costs — Support programs that reduce utility bills for families and small businesses
- Food affordability — Strengthen local food systems and expand access to nutrition assistance
- Consumer protections — Crack down on price gouging and predatory lending practices
- Fair tax policy — Shift the tax burden off working families and onto those who can afford to pay more
Targeted public investments and cost-cutting reforms can improve affordability without sacrificing the quality of life our communities deserve.
