Local Resident Brings Decades of Business Leadership to State House Race
The Senate District 22 DFL officially endorsed Mary Nesgoda on March 7, 2026, as its candidate for the Minnesota State House seat 22B — a district that encompasses most of Le Sueur County, Erin Township in Rice County, the City of Belle Plaine, Belle Plaine, Blakely, and St. Lawrence townships in Scott County.
Nesgoda, from rural Le Sueur, is a 25-year resident of District 22 and is challenging incumbent Rep. Terry Stier for the seat.
A recently retired business professional, Nesgoda brings more than four decades of experience in the dessert industry. What began as a career decorating cakes grew into roles spanning corporate production, research and development, and regulatory compliance — overseeing hundreds of employees across multiple production facilities throughout the United States.
“I was fortunate to have a career that took me from the ground floor to the top,” Nesgoda stated. Her commitment to bridging partisan divides and leveraging business experience to facilitate meaningful change forms the foundation of her campaign platform.
